How ODTH transformed its existing warehouse infrastructure into a highly automated operation with Movu atlas and Movu OPS, without bringing operations to a standstill.
ODTH's Rumst warehouse has undergone a major transformation. Through the project, internally known as Project Elixir, Movu Robotics have converted ODTH’s existing warehouse infrastructure in Rumst into a fully automated warehouse.
Rather than rebuilding from scratch, the project focused on making the most of what was already there. Implemented in six stages, the automation could be brought into operation phase by phase, allowing the warehouse to continue running throughout the transformation. The result is a warehouse capable of handling up to 6,000 pallet movements and 31,000 automated pallet positions per day.
Building automation around existing infrastructure
For ODTH, the challenge was clear: increase storage capacity and throughput at its warehouse in Rumst while keeping day-to-day operations running. The solution was not to start over, but to build on the infrastructure already in place.
With 20 shuttles and 5 lifts deployed across the site, Movu atlas enables high-density pallet storage while Movu OPS coordinates the operation behind the scenes. The project was rolled out across six stages, with each stage becoming operational as soon as it was ready. This phased approach allowed ODTH to progressively introduce automation without having to stop warehouse operations.
Introducing Movu OPS
A key milestone of Project Elixir was the launch of Movu OPS software. Movu OPS manages both transport and location allocation, determining how pallets move through the warehouse and where they should be stored, so that it can be stored as efficiently and densely as possible. This combination of intelligent software and modular automation allows ODTH to make maximum use of its available space while creating a more responsive and efficient operation.
With project Elixir, ODTH and Movu Robotics have proven that you do not need to reinvent the wheel to become more efficient, greener and more responsive. By combining Movu atlas, Movu OPS and a phased implementation strategy, ODTH was able to increase its storage density and throughput while maintaining operations throughout the transformation.

ODTH and stow have worked together for more than 25 years, growing from classic pallet racking to advanced automation. With the latest project in Rumst, Belgium, that partnership entered a new phase: stow's sister company Movu Robotics installed a fully automated Movu atlas 4-way pallet shuttle system, reusing ODTH's existing stow racking for a more sustainable, cost-efficient result.
