When Thomas Demuynck and Bénédicte Soens decided to expand their cold storage business, they didn't just build a bigger warehouse. They built one of the most ambitious automated deep-freeze facilities in the world.
Driven by strong growth in their meat logistics business, the two entrepreneurs invested in a brand new, fully automated high-bay cold store in Kuurne, Belgium — reaching 46 metres in height and offering capacity for 60,000 pallets on just 12,000 m². The result is a state-of-the-art logistics complex that includes a picking zone, loading docks and offices — a landmark in cold chain automation.
To make it happen, Coldo partnered with Movu Robotics and system integrator Ceratec. At the heart of the installation: approximately 30 Movu atlas shuttles combined with a Ceratec loop, operating reliably at temperatures as low as –25°C. Smart automation, a strategic location near the Kortrijk ring road, and 3PL frozen storage services — all coming together in one of the most impressive reference cases in Belgian logistics.
